Security - Doorstep Salesmen

Some doorstep salesmen are no doubt honest, but the problem is that you have no way of knowing this, as the most-crooked person can come across as personable and seemingly trustworthy. The honest-looking man (or woman) may be looking for what you have to steal, how good your locks are, or coerce you into buying something you don't need, or at an inflated price. The safest approach is to not open the door, and if you do, only on a chain. There is nothing they can sell you that you can't buy on the high street or by mail order.
