Retire to Wales?
Wales can make a good choice for retirement living, and property prices are relatively affordable. However, if you aren't Welsh, you need to consider the location very carefully. Many areas, including the big cities like Cardiff and Swansea, are really no different to English or Scottish locations, but if you choose a rural/village location where the population is predominantly Welsh-speaking, it is very much different.
So in these areas, although English-owned houses are no longer being burned down by nationalists, you have to think of this as a foreign country, where to really fit in and make friends, you need to learn the language.
