House Swaps for Holidays
One option for holidays, that has been going for years, is the idea of swapping your house with someone else's in your desired holiday area.
Thanks to the internet, and cheap flights, this is even more a viable option. Of course, there is the uncertainty of opening your house to someone else, and you need to be near to an area that someone else is interested in seeing (for example, London, Edinburgh, Oxford, Stratford would be good locations). You also need to find someone who lives where you would be interested in staying. You could do this for short stays, but the economics are particularly good if your swap is for a month or more.
